NEWS RELEASE
New Workforce Training Available to all Genesee and Shiawassee County Businesses

In true Partners for Progress fashion, Career Alliance, Inc. and the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce have joined to announce the exciting implementation of the Employment Builders Alliance (EBA), a workforce training program now available to all Genesee and Shiawassee County employers, providing skill training to avert layoffs, upgrade worker skills, and keep EBA member workers’ skills competitive in Genesee and Shiawassee Counties.  Regardless of what type of business you operate; manufacturing, restaurant, retail or service oriented, etc., EBA can assist your company in empowering employees with the skills needed to better solve problems, improve productivity, morale and job satisfaction through increased skills and job confidence.

Genesee and Shiawassee area employers may join the EBA for a cost based on a company’s total employee count.  Each member is required to contribute $10 per person employed by the company.  For example a company with 50 employees would be responsible for a $500.00 annual EBA membership fee.  In return, by becoming an EBA member, such company could send as few or as many of their 50 employees to an unlimited number of training classes offered.

The EBA training program is a win-win situation for companies both large and small.  While a small business owner may only employ a handful of employees, each worker is eligible to attend an unlimited number of training classes, making workforce training options that were formerly cost prohibitive to the small business owner, now extremely cost effective.  On the other hand, a large company may not choose to utilize as many of the training classes offered but instead send a majority of their large workforce to a few key training programs being offered.

Some examples of the curriculum that may be offered are:  Activity Based Costing, Auto CAD Basic & Advanced, Creative Problem Solving, Effective Marketing, Internal Audit TS 16949, ISO 14001, Microsoft Excel, PPAP, Six Sigma, Time and Stress Management.

“We are so excited to be able to bring this program to businesses in Genesee and Shiawassee Counties,” said Jody Kerbyson, EBA Program Manager from ThumbWorks.   “It’s really tough for businesses to fathom all that they will get out of a mere $10 per employee investment.  The quality of training, ease of participation and vast selection of classes are just the beginning.  We’ve seen such employee empowerment – just knowing that their employer values their knowledge and wants to help them grow with the company.”

Companies seeking additional information may visit the EBA web site http://www.thumbareaeba.com, or contact Jody Kerbyson at ThumbWorks at (810) 664-1680 ext. 24, or Carol Piesko at Career Alliance at (810) 233-5974, ext. 348.
