Activity in St. Clair County!

The Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County is assisting the Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board with the implementation of the “Employment Builders Alliance.”  The Employment Builders Alliance (EBA), a Michigan Regional Skills Alliance Program, was developed to increase the competitiveness of employers by providing state-of-the-art training, lean manufacturing, quality standards, professional development and technical skills through a consortium approach.

The Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development traditionally awarded training grants to companies who were experiencing growth and job creation, or were in jeopardy of mass lay-offs.   The new EBA will level the playing field for businesses requiring workforce training of incumbent workers by making the program available to all.  Companies can join the alliance and utilize the training courses scheduled quarterly and access resources through a single point of contact.

Training programs will be developed to respond to businesses needs to increase the job performance of current employees.  Some examples of the curriculum that may be offered are:

• Activity Based Costing
• ISO 14001
• AutoCAD Basic & Advanced
• Microsoft Excel Levels I, II & III
• Creative Problem Solving
• PPAP
• Effective Marketing
• Six Sigma
• Internal Audit TS
• Time and Stress Management

By becoming an Employment Builders Alliance member, you are supporting St. Clair County’s economic development future… a future that includes increased competitiveness in a global economy, high-level quality standards for products and services, and employees who are prepared to meet the challenges of a constantly changing workplace.

St. Clair County area employers may join the Employment Builders Alliance (EBA) for a minimal cost based on a company’s total employee count.  Each member is required to contribute $10 per person employed by the company.  For example, a company with 50 employees would be responsible for a $500.00 EBA membership fee.  In return, by becoming an EBA member, such company could send as few or as many of their 50 employees to an unlimited number of training classes offered.   The EBA training program is a win-win situation for companies both large and small!

In order to better assist our businesses, we are conducting a survey and are encouraging all businesses to fill it out on-line so we may better serve your needs and establish the curriculum to be scheduled for the first quarter in 2009. Click here to resond to the survey.  (Upon completion you may either print and fax it to the EDA at 810.982.9531 or you may save it and send it via e-mail to:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
